Big Week Ahead – Day 581

Photo: L. Weikel

Big Week Ahead

We have a big week ahead astronomically and astrologically. Our week is going to culminate with the Solstice (Summer in the Northern Hemisphere, Winter in the Southern) and a Solar Eclipse.

Technically, for those of us on the East Coast of the U.S., the Solstice will occur at 5:43 p.m. on Saturday, June 20th, 2020. Of course, for us here in the Northern Hemisphere, the Summer Solstice is the longest day of the year, and is considered the first day of summer. Conversely, it will be the shortest day of the year and considered the first day of winter for those living in the Southern Hemisphere.

The solar eclipse will occur at 2:41 a.m. EDT on Sunday, June 21st. Obviously, due to time zone differences, some areas will be able to say these two significant events will be taking place on the same day (Friday the 20th).

Regardless of whether they technically fall on the same calendar day, the significance is that they’re taking place only six hours apart. In cosmic timing, that’s nothing; and the confluence of these events will undoubtedly be powerful and have long term and far-reaching effects.

Some Links

I’ll probably write about this again in the next few days and provide you with some interesting links to perspectives on what you might encounter this week on a mental, physical, emotional, or spiritual level. For instance, Kaypacha’s Pele Report for June 10th (which takes us into the middle of the coming week) gives us some insight into what the entire world is confronting – as well as some helpful suggestions for what we might want to focus on to learn more about ourselves and how to navigate through it.

As I come across other interesting perspectives, I’ll share them with you. If you take the time to read or listen to them, notice what aspects resonate with you. Simply recognizing how the ‘big picture’ of what’s going on in the sky is affecting how people are acting here on Earth can be remarkably soothing. Even when we’re living through hellacious experiences, having even the inkling that there’s a much grander scheme at work influencing the way people are reacting, etc., can give us the perspective we need not to take it all too personally.

Different for Everyone

While these planetary aspects are obviously affecting all of us – it’s important to realize that they tweak us all in different ways because of the unique location the planets were in at the time of our birth (our ‘birth charts’). Where they were located in our chart when we were born dictates where they are now (in our unique charts) as they make their journeys around the sun.

Into the Weeds

It’s funny. When I started this post this evening, it was my intention to pick a couple of cards for us to focus upon and use for guidance as the week unfolds. It feels important for us to engage in some reflection as we approach the solstice and eclipse because, chances are, some big stuff is coming our way. Clearly, though, I got lost in the weeds of astrology again.

We’re in the midst of major upheaval and transformation. We can either go through it consciously or have it broadside us and send our lives into even more disarray than we’ve encountered already this year. Given the choice, I’m always interested in navigating life’s storms with as many maps and tools as possible.

Obviously, instead of just choosing a couple cards and talking about them, I wanted to explain why I felt it was important to for us to be especially aware right now. But alas, I’ve run out of time.

Stay tuned. Tomorrow’s another day.

Retrograde – Day 549

Maple Seeds; Heart’s desire? – Photo: L. Weikel

Retrograde

There’s a lot of astrological activity occurring this week that you’re probably already feeling on one level or another. I know I am. Perhaps most significant in my mind is the fact that Saturn went retrograde on Sunday, Venus went retrograde on Tuesday, and Jupiter is going retrograde tomorrow (Thursday, May 14th).

I’m pretty sure I’ve provided an elementary explanation of what it means for a planet to station and then go retrograde. It’s all in our perspective which, when you think about it, is so true of practically everything in life. In this case, though, a planet going retrograde means that, from our perspective on Earth, it looks like a planet is stopping in its orbit around us (stationing) and then appears to be moving backwards.

As I say, this is all an optical illusion based on our perspective from here on Earth. It all has to do with the length and pace of a planet’s orbit around the sun vis-à-vis the Earth’s orbit.

Different Influences

Nevertheless, as we are complex creatures influenced by a myriad of factors that we often aren’t consciously aware of, including the moon, sun, and planets, it can be a deeply powerful time of reflection and change when they go retrograde.

Most people have heard one thing or another about Mercury going retrograde. Because Mercury is closest to the sun and is the planet that moves most rapidly in its orbit, it’s the one that’s discussed most often. When Mercury goes retrograde, an occurrence that happens four times a year, I believe, the length of time it is appearing to move backward is about three weeks.

When the larger planets go retrograde, their periods in that state happen less frequently and are longer in duration, although they vary. The thought is that the influence of the larger planets is generally more profound and long-lasting.

As I’ve written about a number of times over the past year and a half, the planet Mercury is associated with communication and electronics, to name two of the most common factors influenced by that planet. Obviously, then, when Mercury goes retrograde, there are certain activities that are enhanced during that time, such as editing and going over details with a fine-toothed comb.

Not Mercury

When Saturn, Venus, and Jupiter go retrograde this week (joining Pluto, which went retrograde at the end of April), we are called upon to stop our relentless efforts at moving forward or maintaining the status quo. Instead, we’re asked to take time to reflect upon and really take stock of those aspects of our lives (or the life of the society we live in, or the country, etc.) that are associated with that particular planet. We’re asked to decide what is working for us in those areas – and what we need to release or surrender.

For instance, Venus has to do with our values, our ways of earning a living, what we hold dear, the things or aspects of our lives that mean most to us. When Venus goes retrograde, we’re called upon to reflect on just exactly what we value most. What we can live with losing. Who we are if we lose what we value.

As you know, I enjoy the work of Kaypacha and I like to listen to his weekly Pele Reports. He knows his astrology – particularly evolutionary astrology – and he translates it into information I can apply to my own life. I recommend you give this week’s Pele Report (for May 13th) a listen. The interplay of each of these planets going retrograde and what and how they influence us is fascinating. And the application of these influences to what the world is experiencing right now is fascinating and provides an abundance of food for thought.

Just planting the seeds for all our growth…

Cycles – Day 537

Illuminated Willow – Photo: L. Weikel

Cycles

I’m sitting here in my usual spot on our couch. Our front door is open and I can hear a powerful wind whipping through the tops of the 30’ pines across the road. The huge stand of trees is actually dying out, much to the relief of my sinuses, which have been dearly taxed by the pollen that’s wafted from these trees for decades. The quantity of now barren branches of these huge sentinels makes me sad nevertheless. I’m reminded, of course, that everything in life comes down to cycles.

Everywhere we look in our lives, cycles prevail. Indeed, our lives themselves are ultimately the cycles that both drive and haunt us at the same time.

Some cycles are much greater than a simple human life; and by that I mean they play out over periods of time measuring much longer than even the longest of human lives. And of course there are other cycles that begin and end in the blink of an eye.

Endings and Beginnings

Of course, if we’re talking about cycles, then surely we must consider beginnings and endings. Endings and beginnings. We really can’t have one without the other because nothing lasts forever, except eternity, I suppose.

Pine trees have life cycles, as do maples and dogwoods, sycamores and weeping willows.

Recently, while I feel they’ve been staring me in the face almost everywhere I turn, I’ve been contemplating a couple of cycles in particular. It’s fascinating to realize just how unwilling we are to let go of the familiar – even when we know it is both time to do so and ultimately for the best.

Global Scale

I am sure that all of us are capable of pointing to half a dozen cycles we’ve taken for granted in our lives that have been completely upended in the past six weeks or so. Cycles we didn’t even realize were cycles – until they were no more.

One cycle that we’re currently experiencing is actually reflected in the stars. Well, the planets, more specifically – an astrological cycle. And the similarities of configurations that were present in 1918 and are occurring once again in 2020 are remarkable.

It seems to me that it’s incumbent upon us all to learn from the past. If we don’t make a point of learning from and evolving as a result of what’s transpired before, won’t we end up finding ourselves just repeating the same patterns, possibly even mistakes, over and over? Wouldn’t we rather evolve? Isn’t that ultimately the point of life?

Check out this latest astrological Pele Report by Kaypacha. There’s a lot of good stuff in it, including similarities of cycles from 100 years ago, as well as links to other sources. The mantra resonated with me right down to a cellular level. Maybe it will with you, too.

Final Full Moon of the Decade – Day 395

Rising Full Moon (peaked 12:12 a.m., 12/12/2019) – Photo: L. Weikel

Final Full Moon of the Decade

Surely you know me well enough now to figure there’d be no way I could let this full moon take place this evening, reaching its apex just past midnight (Eastern Standard Time), without mentioning it.

I’m fairly dedicated to keeping track of the moon’s phases. I’ve found that the satellite that causes our tides and, in fact, holds a great deal of sway over all the liquids on our planet (from the seas to our own blood, to even the fluidity of our emotions) has a much bigger impact on our day to day lives than most care to admit.

Many people don’t even realize the moon’s influence on our lives. They literally could not tell you where it rises or where it sets; what phase it is in on any given day; and rare is the person who could offer the astrological sign it is in (especially since it moves through a sign every 2.5 days).

Frozen full moon – stars and frozen drops of snow on branches; Photo: L. Weikel

But the sense that this full moon is particularly momentous is probably lingering in the back of the minds of many – even those who would not ordinarily pay attention to that massive orb in the night sky. That’s because the moon will reach her fullest at 12:12 a.m. EST on the 12thday of the 12thmonth of 2019 (which, if you fancy your numerology, which you know I do) adds up to 12 (2+0+1+9)*. And on some level, just as people always seem to get a little, shall we say wackier? intense? during a full moon regardless of whether they know it is a full moon, I suspect almost everyone is feeling a tickle around their edges tonight.

Personally Speaking

For myself, though, I have to say all these 12s remind me of all the 11s I was so keenly aware of on 11/11/11. I recall sitting within my mesa at 11:11 a.m. (EST), holding space and clearing my mind, not having the slightest clue that my life would change cataclysmically at 11:11 p.m. (PST) that evening.

So, while I tend to be a ‘glass half full’ kinda girl, I’d be less than completely honest if I denied feeling the tiniest bit of trepidation at this grand parade of numbers.

The truth is, it feels momentous. The truth is, even though you can argue that the 12:12 timing, at least, is less than momentous given that it is only one time zone out of 24, especially when you’re living in that time zone – it feels significant.

And there are, of course, a plethora of ‘takes’ on what this full moon portends. There is Hare in the Moon, Chani Nicholas, and my favorite guy who makes me laugh while listening to his insight, Kaypacha. But they all pretty much agree that this full moon, in conjunction with all the other intense astrological aspects the planets are making to each other, portends great change.

Full moon far afield – Photo: L. Weikel

Cleansing and Releasing

For my part, I’ve opened Sacred Space and am allowing my mesa to bask in the intensity of Mama Killa’s light. Using my mesa and the khuyas (sacred stones) that are contained within it as proxies for me and various aspects of myself and my life, I am surrendering to the power and wisdom of letting go of what no longer serves me. I’m asking Her to burn off the dross.

This is also the final full moon of a decade that, from my perspective, has been filled with blindsides. I wish to shake off the detritus of this decade in order to enter the 20s with renewed hope, refreshed vision, and an abundance of joyful energy.

Ah yes…

It is now 12:21. My time outside was magical. If you didn’t get a chance to go outside tonight, I hope you will give yourself that gift tomorrow night. Even if only for five minutes, go outside. Look up. Be still. Give thanks.

I’m ready to complete this post and hit ‘publish.’ For whatever reason, as I stood outside in the stark brilliance of the FULL moon minutes ago, I felt compelled to wish peace to all Beings who are suffering in any way. May we all let go of the burdens we’ve accumulated this decade, especially those that weigh heavy on our hearts.

*And yes, of course, this means that we are being inundated with 3s, since 12 reduces to a 3. But I don’t want to go down that road at the moment.

A Time of Letting Go – Day 353

A Time of Letting Go

I mentioned yesterday that we’re entering another period of intensity. Part of that has to do with the fact that the sun has moved into Scorpio, which traditionally is associated with death and regeneration. And because we’re human, most of us tighten up over the mere mention of death, so we barely even pay attention to the ‘regeneration’ aspect of Scorpio.

We just get freaked out over the prospect of death.

Not Just the Sun

Reading this you may think to yourself, yeah, but we go through Scorpio every year. Big deal. Why do things feel especially tense and fraught right now?

And I would answer that it’s a function of other aspects that are occurring right now as well. Some of these aspects are other planets dancing (or sparring) with each other in specific signs that result in making it feel as though they’re piling on and making everything worse.

I’ve just spent a bunch of time just now trying to synopsize my understanding of what’s going on astrologically, and I feel like all I’ve been doing is deleting.

Let the Experts Speak

So instead of trying to distill what I’ve read, I’m going to share a couple of links to astrologers I’ve linked to before. Kaypacha is a video you watch, while Chani writes a great analysis. The third link I’m sharing is to Evolving Door, which I believe I discovered through a friend, and found it to be an interesting analysis.

Let’s face it: There’s no denying that most, if not all, of us are experiencing the intensity I mentioned in yesterday’s post. We’re seeing it outside of us and we’re feeling it within ourselves. And the more information we can gather that helps us navigate these turbulent times the better.

Go Deep

With Mercury going retrograde tomorrow for three weeks, I feel it really just underscores the need for all of us to really dig deep and, as Kaypacha says, figure out who we want to be and what we truly want to create in our lives – and let go of that which no longer serves us.

It feels like we’re all being called upon to look deeply within and exercise radical honesty with ourselves.

Talk about a death. It sounds to me like we’re being called to face the death of bullshitting ourselves. What no longer works? What hasn’t been working for a long, long time, but we’ve refused to acknowledge and act on that truth? What have we been telling ourselves we just can’t stop feeling or doing or believing because we’ll die to our own illusions of who we are?

The Cool Thing

What we need to remember is that regeneration will occur. We can and will create a new reality for ourselves if we finally stop trying to hang on to what hasn’t been working and let it go. That’s the cool thing about this whole process. Nothing is static. Change is constantly occurring. The real questions are whether we’re going to stop resisting, choose to be conscious of our lives and our choices, and allow ourselves to jettison the baggage that’s been keeping us from flowing into a new expression of our lives?

Join me. Let’s let it go. Let’s see what happens!

Inspiration for this Full Moon – Day 305

Inspiration for this Full Moon

Tomorrow (Friday, September 13th, 2019) a full moon will occur. It’ll also be, obviously, a ‘Friday the 13th.’ Astrologically, the fact that it is ‘Friday the 13th’ has no bearing on anything. Indeed, in my opinion, the whole ‘Friday the 13th’ frenzy and superstition that occurs is unwarranted.

Personally, I’ve always liked the number 13 and don’t consider it to be unlucky. It’s a number often associated with Goddess energy, as there are actually 13 moons in a year. And my eldest son, Karl, was born on the 13th– albeit not on a Friday. Then again…I suppose an argument could be made… No. I’m not going there.

A Rare Occurrence

Having a full moon, which so many people associate with wacky behavior, increased sensitivity, ‘lunacy,’ etc., land on a Friday the 13th is a pretty rare occurrence. Apparently, the last time it occurred was on October 13, 2000, and the next one won’t occur until August 13th, 2049.

I wonder if I noticed anything particularly difficult or outlandish happening in the world at large or personally 20 years ago. I should check my journals!

A Lot Going On

Astrologically, however, this full moon has a lot of aspects that make tomorrow and the next few days hold a lot of potentially challenging aspects. That’s because the moon is opposite not only the sun (which is what makes it, technically, a ‘full moon’), but it’s also opposite three other planets that are hanging around quite close to (considered ‘conjunct’) the sun.

There are other things going on as well – aspects that, considered together, as I said above, could make things quite challenging.

Believing as I do that forewarned is forearmed, I’m going to once again provide you with a link to the most recent Pele Report. As usual, if your eyes glaze over when the position of planets and their aspects to each other are discussed (which may have been triggered simply by reading my paragraph, above), I strongly encourage you to just be patient and wait for Kaypacha to speak directly to the camera. What he has to say in this report is pretty fascinating and definitely worth considering – not only how it applies to your own life, but also how it plays out in the larger world.

The Past Coming Up…to Bite Us?

All full moons ask us to consider what has come to fruition in our life, reached its fullness, or is perhaps reaching a point where it needs to be shed. At the very least, a full moon asks us to notice whether intentions we set at the new moon have borne fruit.

Obviously, sometimes seeds planted take longer than two weeks to germinate and even begin to grow. So the light shed by the full moon may not be illuminating the product of seeds we planted only two weeks ago. It may be reflecting the culmination of ideas or intentions set at a new moon that occurred months ago. (Yet another resoundingly excellent reason to keep a journal.)

This Full Moon In Particular

But this particular full moon seems to be calling up major lessons from the past. Karma, if you will. Asking us to clear out the accumulation of repercussions of things we said or done in the past, shed it, let it go, surrender to it, so we can move beyond the weight of the past to something entirely new – and much more free.

One major gift we can give ourselves to help us navigate these times is silence.

I encourage you to give yourself the 30 minutes or so it will take to listen to Kaypacha’s Pele Report. He also provides some links to help us all ground the energies that are bombarding us so we can navigate these times without losing our balance.

To be clear, it doesn’t matter that you’re listening to it a few days after September 11th. He discusses aspects that are occurring over the course of several days. And for some reason, when I listened to it today, I got the strong sense that I should share it with all of you.

I hope you have an amazing Friday the 13th, filled with insight and illumination, magic and manifestation of your dreams. Go out and howl at that full moon! Maybe we’ll hear each other.

Eclipse Season Commences – Day 232

Eclipse Season Commences

Just a quick post on the astrological event that’s most prominently being discussed at the moment: tomorrow’s (Tuesday’s) solar eclipse. Tomorrow’s new moon in the sign of Cancer kicks off eclipse ‘season,’ as eclipses never happen in isolation.

The eclipses occurring this month (the full moon lunar eclipse will occur on July 16th) are considered to be particularly significant and powerfully influential on human behavior (although it is not limited to human behavior) because of some of the other influences being created by the position of our celestial brothers and sisters, such as the aspects being created by Saturn and Pluto and their relation to the Sun and Moon.

Other Players Doing Their Dance…

Mercury and Mars are dancing around together, which can lead to some, um, incendiary words. And perhaps a little extra special caution might be warranted as they take their ‘dance’ from the watery ‘feeling’ space of Cancer and move into Leo – which is a fire sign, and thus could lead to putting those words into action.

As I’ve done before, here are links to two of my favorite sources of information on astrological events and how they might play out in our personal lives as well as the greater world environment, Kaypacha’s Pele Report and the report of Chani Nicholas.

With respect to reading Chani’s assessment of what’s going on astrologically and how it might impact you and your life, it’s important to know both your sun sign and your ‘rising’ or ‘ascendant’ sign. I’ve discussed this before, and here’s the link to help refresh your recollection on one of the sites you can go to that will calculate both your sun sign and ‘ascendant’ or  ‘rising’ sign. That way, you can read both and see which resonates with your experience.

My Observations

Eclipses tend to be revelatory in nature. In other words, when the moon gets between the Earth and the sun and blocks out all the light shining upon us from the sun, the metaphoric result is that things that were hidden or in the shadows, things that we couldn’t see because the sun was too bright, are revealed. And with the planet Pluto aspecting all of this, we’re in for some dramatic revelations of things we didn’t know about or failed to see before this.

Quite amazingly, within the past three days or so, as we’ve approached this initial total solar eclipse, I’ve personally witnessed people I know suddenly and unexpectedly discovering information (the ‘truth’) about, a variety of circumstances, such as:

(1) their life partner’s interests ‘elsewhere;’ (2) a health situation that a loved one was attempting to hide from both my friend (and probably themselves); (3) significant misrepresentations and subterfuge being propounded by a company represented by a friend of mine; and (4) six years of royalties not having been paid by the publisher of a book written by someone I know.

Each of these ‘truths’ were exposed literally within the past three days, which I find rather astonishing.

Remember – What’s Your Ascendant?

I urge you to pay attention and take notice if you or the people around you (family, friends, co-workers) are discovering new and often dramatic or significant information touching upon their life in some way.

The links above to Kaypacha and Chani can provide you with more in-depth information that you can apply to your personal situation.

Again, believe me, I know. This stuff is complicated and your eyes may glaze over when you hear a description of all the ‘aspects’ (i.e., the Sun is conjunct the Moon’s North Node in Cancer while in direct opposition to Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn).  It can definitely sound like gobbledeegook. But both astrologers take that technical information and translate it into fascinating understandings of how they can be interpreted.

Plant the Seeds of Your Highest Intentions

Finally, I encourage you to remember that New Moons are the perfect time to plant the seeds of new beginnings! And this New Moon tomorrow is particularly powerful not only because of the eclipse but also because it is a ‘super moon.’

So plant the seeds your soul yearns to cultivate. Create something new. Take a risk. Be courageous. Dream big.

Making Sense of it All – Day 124

Photo: L. Weikel

Making Sense of it All

I didn’t see a lot of coverage of the student Climate Strikes here in the U.S., but I did see a lot of photos posted by friends and colleagues I know of events held around the world. I don’t watch any local or national news on television, so that might account for why I didn’t see a lot of coverage. (Hmmm.) I am nevertheless surprised I didn’t see anything posted on Facebook about local or national events.

In the meantime, we’re all distracted and horrified by the carnage that unfolded in New Zealand last night.

Hmm. Carnage. There’s a word…

Every day it seems there’s more to grieve. And more reason to find the love in our hearts, and then allow that love to simply be with our brothers and sisters in their time of suffering.

A Shift in Focus

So I want to shift our focus a bit, even if only for half an hour or so.

As you know, I’m fond of the field of astrology and, while barely a neophyte, I am trying to understand it more, bit by bit. (And perhaps dragging you along for the ride?) There are so many layers to it; it can be a bit overwhelming. Nevertheless, I will persist.

I had a pretty intense week this week (putting it mildly), so I didn’t get around to listening to my favorite weekly astrological forecast, the Pele Report, until today. I’ve referenced these before, and unfortunately, I worry you may have gotten the wrong impression of Tom Lescher (aka Kaypacha), due to the link I provided back in December. It wasn’t until too late that I realized the Report he’d given that week sort of went off on a tangent regarding sex that – I don’t know – was just distracting.

Some Excellent Reflections

When I watched the Pele Report for this week (the week of March 13th, 2019), I thought of all of you and my 1111 Devotion posts. I thought of you because I felt the information, and especially the wisdom and aspirational tone, he brought to this was precisely what I enjoy and value about his interpretations of the movements of our celestial companions and how they affect us.

So I urge you to give this a click and listen to Kaypacha. Heads up, though: I urge you to just allow for his description of all the various aspects that are taking place right now – don’t try to figure it out, and also don’t become overwhelmed or bogged down by it all and think that that’s how he’s going to speak throughout the report.

When he gets into the application of his knowledge to our human experience – wow.

Undulations of Lunar Energy

What I found particularly fascinating (and realized had played out these past two weeks in Karl’s and my life to a precision that was uncanny) was his description of the phases of the moon and how they can and often do mirror the ebbs and flows of our experiences. I’d never heard this undulation of lunar energy described in quite this way before, and I found it intriguing to consider. This is especially true for the specifics of the moon and its phases this month.

Another important aspect to his report this week was his reference to the differences between data and information, information and knowledge, knowledge and wisdom, and wisdom and enlightenment. We really need to get a handle on the differences between these concepts and not assume they are interchangeable – for they most definitely are NOT.

There’s a lot to be pondered here and I intend to explore it with you in posts to come.

Shedding the Past and Embracing Our New Selves

We are all being asked to embrace change, from the most personal considerations to shifts on a global scale. If we look around us and witness what’s going on, it’s hard to persist in thinking that we can maintain the status quo with impunity. No. We must embrace the change that is coming toward us from all over the place – but mostly (and most uncomfortably) from within.

We will all be a lot better off if, over the next several days, we each commit to engaging in some of the reflection and shedding of the past (and old beliefs and ways of being) that is being asked of us.

If we do this with thoughtfulness and awareness, and a sincere desire to understand ourselves better and quicken our expression of our true selves, I have no doubt we’ll arrive at the full moon and Equinox next week truly ready to surge into Aries and begin implementing some exciting new aspects to our lives.

New Moon/New Beginnings – Day Twenty Five

New Moon/New Beginnings

Of necessity, I am not going to be able to write as much as I usually do this evening. But at the same time, I don’t want to leave you hanging on this whole ‘new moon’ thing that I started yesterday.

And I realize I may very well be talking about stuff you already know. If that’s the case, I hope you’ll forgive me.

Just from my dead giveaway ‘title’ to this post, yes, Virginia, when the moon is ‘new,’ which is also referred to as the ‘dark’ phase of the moon, it is generally thought to be a particularly auspicious time to embark upon new endeavors. New adventures, new jobs, new ideas, etc. It’s not that starting at other phases of the moon is ‘bad’ – it’s just generally thought to be most advantageous or giving the opportunity the greatest chance of success to begin it at a new moon.

And remember when I said last night that astrology is surprisingly complex? Well, just to give you a taste of that, beyond paying attention to the actual fact that the new moon is taking place today (be it December 6th or 7th, depending upon what time zone you live in), true astrologers also look to the sign in which the moon is hanging out, as well as the house of your particular natal chart. Yeah. I do not even pretend to have a rudimentary grasp of this. Yet. But it is intriguing to me and, after decades of relying on someone else to let me in on what all of this means, I’m actually starting to try to get a grip on it myself.

We’ll see. Who knows? By “talking about it out loud” here on my blog, maybe I’ll log the information into the appropriate folds of my brain and one day this stuff will start clicking.

I can tell you that the new moon tonight/tomorrow morning is occurring in Sagittarius, because that’s where the sun is right now – and a new moon is when the moon is lined up with (or ‘conjunct’) the sun and therefore not reflecting any of its light (hence it also being known as the ‘dark’ moon). While the sun moves through the 12 signs of the zodiac every 30 days (or so), the moon moves through each sign every 2.5 days (or so).

And yaaaaaaawn. That’s enough of that.

Some Favorite Astrology Links

So, here I’d like to give you links to two astrologers I enjoy following.

Kaypacha (Tom Lescher) publishes a weekly video called the Pele Report. He gives the technical aspects at the beginning (which still makes my eyes roll into the back of my head – but also makes me want to understand them better), and then he gives an entertaining and insightful explication on how the aspects occurring that week may play out or influence us in our daily lives (and on a global level, when and where appropriate). I find his personality endearing, and I relate to his goofiness all too easily. He knows his stuff, but he doesn’t take himself too seriously.

Chani used to give reports on a weekly basis, but is now giving them on a monthly basis. In order to get the most of Chani’s interpretations of the celestial aspects, it is extremely helpful to not only know your sun sign, but also your ascendant. That’s why I suggested you might want to discover yours in yesterday’s post. I find these interpretations extremely insightful and uncanny at times.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy these links. It’s really kind of neat to start paying attention to this information and noticing how it may or may not play out in what you see and feel unfolding in your life.
